MESSAGE FROM ALEXANDAR JAN, CHAIR, MIDTOWN BID
30th March, 2020

I am writing to update you of some changes at Midtown BID and to offer our continued support – however modest in scale – to so many of our members caught up in the current crisis.

Firstly some changes to our team. After more than 13 years as Chief Executive, Tass Mavrogordato has decided to move on from Midtown BID to pursue new challenges and opportunities.

Tass has steered Midtown BID through a sustained period of growth and development. The successful renewal ballot for the BID that we recently undertook is testament to her hard work and dedication over many years to the business community in our area. The Board wishes Tass every success with her future endeavours.

Our thanks also go to Allan Sams and Julia Gosling for all their hard work and effort both of whom left the company a few weeks ago. Julia continues to be involved on a consultancy basis.

Looking to the future, I am pleased to announce that the Midtown BID Board have appointed Ruth Duston with support from her team at Primera to provide executive leadership on an interim basis before we recruit a new Chief Executive later in the year.

Ruth and her colleagues will be working alongside our Chief Creative Officer, Jonathan Davis who was pivotal in helping us to get through the recent successful renewal ballots.

Ruth is highly regarded for her work with other Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) in central London – and is recognised as a leading expert in BID delivery. Her involvement will help us to forge closer links with surrounding BIDs and other principal stakeholders as we all try to navigate such difficult economic circumstances.

The Board and Executive Management team are actively refocusing priorities and objectives in order to assist and advise our members in these challenging times. More details will follow on our website and social channels.

Notwithstanding this, in light of the COVID-19 outbreak, the Midtown BID corporate office will be closed temporarily with staff working remotely. Our public events and a number of our other activities will be postponed until further notice.

On behalf of all us at Midtown BID,  a collective thank you to our Members for collectively providing us with a strong vote of confidence in the recent ballot. We will do what we can to support you during this difficult period and look forward to working closely with you and our local councils Camden and Islington to help deliver the best possible recovery for the central London economy when that time comes.
